How To Keep Your Blood Pressure Normal

Your blood pressure is one of the most important health-related numbers you have. It is essential to having a healthy heart and long life. For those reasons, it is important to, not only have normal blood pressure, but also to know exactly what your blood pressure is at any given time. To do this, you should make it a practice to take your blood pressure (or have it taken) at least once every 3 months. This will allow you to keep tabs on it and monitor this very important number.

TIPS ON KEEPING YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE NORMAL

NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE

If you do find that your blood pressure is above the normal range (120/80), then you will need to take steps to lower it. Of course, medication is often used to lower or to regulate blood pressure. However, many people wisely choose to avoid this option unless it is an absolute necessity. There are many other ways to control high blood pressure that have proven to have various degrees of effectiveness. Most importantly, some methods for lowering blood pressure may work for some people, while other methods may work for other people.

Below, we’ve composed a list of some methods that have proven to have some effectiveness in lowering your blood pressure:

(1)   Lose Weight To Have Normal Blood Pressure:

Sure, this is easier said than done. But this is the most, tried and true, way to have an impact on your blood pressure. If you can drop that extra 10, 20 or 50 pounds, chances are, this will have a positive effect on your blood pressure.

(2)  Be Active:

This goes hand in hand with the previous tip for lowering blood pressure. The more active you are the greater chance you have of keeping your blood pressure normal. Staying active includes getting exercise at least 3-4 times a week to keep your heart healthy and blood pressure low.

(3) Cut Out Tobacco Products:

While smoking and using tobacco products is an addiction, getting rid of these products can have a very positive effect on your blood pressure. It’s difficult to do, but in the long run, can be worth it.

(4)   Drink Only In Moderation:

If you consume more than 2 alcoholic drinks a day, you can certainly be putting yourself at risk for high blood pressure. Eliminating this habit can also have a very positive effect in keeping blood pressure normal.

(5)   Eat A Healthy Diet To Have Normal Blood Pressure:

This includes foods that are low in fat and not processed, like fresh fruits and vegetables.

(6)   Limit Your Caffeine Intake:

Are you drinking a whole pot of coffee every morning? Eliminating this, cutting back or switching to decaf has been shown, in some cases, to have a very positive effect on your blood pressure also.

(7)  Limit Your Sodium Intake:

Salt is everywhere in today’s society. Try to avoid putting “extra” salt on your food, particularly when eating out. It has been shown that the average person gets 2-3 times more salt than they need on a daily basis, even if they are not adding extra salt! So, cutting this back should be a boost to getting that blood pressure lower.

All in all, lowering your blood pressure can be done, with a little knowledge and determination. While some people elect to go with medications that are designed to lower blood pressure, and in some cases this is necessary, it is possible to make lifestyle changes that will aid in lowering your blood pressure. By following one or all of the tips above, you too can lower your blood pressure and be on your way to living a healthier life.
