There are many things in life that can be achieved only through struggle and constant effort, money being one and fitness another. They’re both important and necessary to raise the quality of life, and this is why we go all out to achieve them. Some people make the mistake of focusing only on money and neglecting their fitness and health; they end up paying the price sooner or later when they fall sick and have to undergo expensive treatments and surgeries. Some people want to stay fit, but their busy schedules and hectic lifestyles don’t allow them to stay active and exercise regularly. If you belong to this category, don’t fret; it’s easy to boost your health and maintain your fitness by following the right tips to maintain fitness:
Short Is Sweet Too:
There’s no need to spend hours together running or swimming or working with weights to stay or even get fit – just half an hour a day, six days a week is enough. Interval training allows you to boost your stamina, tone your muscles, and improve cardiovascular health in one go; it involves alternating high intensity exercise with periods of rest (or exercise of light intensity), like sprinting at top speed for 30 seconds and slowing down to a walk for the next 30 seconds, and repeating this cycle for at least 10 to 15 minutes. You’re out of breath by the time you’re done, you get a great workout, and you’ve hardly spent any time in getting fit. Spend 5 minutes warming up before and cooling down after to prevent injuries.
Staying Power Leads To Power Fitness:
The key to retaining fitness is to do at least a little every day without succumbing to laziness or getting into the habit of providing excuses. Instead, find reasons to work out – the biggest motivator is the fact that when you forgo exercise for a few weeks at a stretch, you waste all the hard work you’ve done before; you put on weight and you lose your fitness. So even if you have just a few minutes, make it a point to exercise at least every alternate day.
Liking It Is Half The Job Done:
Choose an activity that you love, be it an exercise or playing a sport. This ensures that you stay at it regularly and that you do it whole-heartedly instead of cheating and pretending that you’ve exercised.
Squeeze In The Minimum:
The smallest bits help when you’re trying to maintain your fitness – if you have a few minutes in the middle of the day, use them to do a few sets of squats, lunges, leg lifts or crunches. It may not seem like much, but every minute of exercise counts.
Less Is More:
And finally, augment your workout efforts by eating less and eating right; minimize the heavy carbohydrates and unhealthy fats, eat more of protein, and ensure that you get your vitamins and nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables. When you eat right, half the battle for fitness is won.
Fitness does not happen overnight; you need to work both at gaining it and maintaining it. However, when you’re fit, you reap the benefits of good health as well.
