Role Of Biotin In Hair Growth

Many people may not know about the role of biotin in hair growth. Biotin, a basic ad fundamental, water soluble B vitamin, is also known as the hair growth vitamin. Biotin promotes the growth of healthy hair, skin and nails. It is known to protect the hair against dryness and improves the elasticity of the hair’s cortex, thereby avoiding breakage of the hair strand. Apart from the relationship between biotin and the healthy growth of hair, it is also used in the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates, since it is involved in the transfer of carbon dioxide in the body. Reduced levels of biotin in the body can lead to hair loss, poor skin and unhealthy nails.

Role Of Biotin In Hair Growth:

The important role of biotin in hair growth is evidenced by the fact that it is the first supplement that your doctor will prescribe if you suddenly begin experiencing hair loss. Biotin is found in many types of foods such as eggs and liver, but it takes huge amounts of food to give you the 5 milligrams required for effective hair growth, if you already have a biotin deficiency in your body. If you have a biotin deficiency, consider taking biotin supplements in order to increase the levels of biotin in your body for your hair, skin and nails to grow properly.

Biotin can be taken both orally and topically. There are shampoos that contain biotin and these are recommended for people who have sudden hair loss. The biotin in these shampoos can be absorbed directly through the scalp and some of it is absorbed directly into the hair shaft causing an increase in the growth of new hair and health of the existing hair shafts. There are also biotin supplements that are taken in the form of capsules. Or such capsule containing 5 milligrams of biotin is sufficient to improve the biotin levels in your body. Such supplements are important due to the role of biotin in hair growth.

Sources Of Biotin:

Apart from eggs and liver, there are other foods that can help improve the role of biotin in hair growth.  Such foods include green peas, walnuts, sunflower seeds, brown rice, soybeans and oats. You should note that high protein intake will inhibit the assimilation of biotin in your body, since it binds easily with the proteins making it unavailable for your body to use. People who have Type A blood also do not assimilate biotin in their bodies. If you have type A blood, then you can increase the dosage of your biotin supplements, since there are no side effects associated with overdosing on biotin.

Beware Of Antacids!!

The use of antacids in people who suffer chronic heart burn and acid reflux prevents biotin from being absorbed in the body. If you suffer from these conditions you may also increase the intake of biotin supplements.

The role of biotin in hair growth is very important. Therefore, you should take the necessary measures to increase your biotin intake if you suffer from hair loss or alopecia.

The secret to healthy thick hair has finally been revealed. I couldn’t believe that I’ve been taking large amounts of regular Biotin ever since. It must be thanks to that that my hair is growing so healthy that I get a lot of compliments from it. Biotin is such a helpful vitamin for people with hair problems. This information should be well spread for others to know.
