Why Do You Need Your Sleep?

Harvard Medical School studies have shown healthy sleep patterns keep our mood elevated, allow our brains to process and store information and help our immune systems stay strong.

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center conducted a study in 2003 that found postmenopausal women who worked out for 30 minutes at the start of every day fell asleep more easily than those who did not exercise.
Here’s an astounding figure: a 1996 report in the American Journal of Medicine quoted a study in which 100 percent of insomnia patients had improved sleeping patterns after introducing meditation into their daily routine. Meditation has long been part of Eastern religions and has been introduced in our culture over the past 40 years. There are many styles of meditation, but it is a highly individualized practice. Typically people spend 20 to 40 minutes in quiet contemplation, seeking a calm mind and zen-like state. Meditation may sound easier than it is; committing to a daily meditation routine can be difficult for those with busy lives and high stress levels.
Yoga is very beneficial to fight insomnia. Practicing yoga regularly has many health benefits both physical and mental.
Natural methods don’t work for everyone, and sometimes getting a good night’s rest is essential for a person’s mental and physical health. After reviewing your health history and current condition, your doctor may prescribe a sleeping pill to help restore your sleep.
