Being overweight is largely associated with one’s lifestyle and habits. To avoid being overweight and have a healthy weight, one should follow healthy and balanced lifestyle and a regular fitness regime. Here we will discuss health tips to help you keep your weight under check.



You might end up missing a meal or eating less during the course of your hectic job but at the end still notice that instead of loosing weight you are in fact gaining it. Studies have revealed that people with sedentary career end up with a high body mass index than people with much active career. All said, the fact is in spite of your sedentary and less active career there are several factors which are slowing and silently contributing to your body weight and the worst part is, you are totally ignorant of this.

Health Tips To Avoid Being Overweight:

  • Cause:

No regular breakfast – Morning hour rush, yes, you are in so much hurry that you hardly get ready to reach office in time and the result you miss your breakfast.

Studies have suggested that missing the first meal of the day make you overeat at the next meal which results in your body adding up more unwanted weight.

Health Tip:

Make it a point never to miss your breakfast. Breakfast being the first meal of the day, is the most important meal which gives a boost to your energy levels to start the day ahead. Morning being the rush time try to take an easy nutritious and quick breakfast such as milk and eggs or corn flakes or a brown bread sandwich or get a quick one packed at your nearest cafeteria and have it once you reach office.

  • Cause:

Untimely or late lunch – Its understood that you keep busy through out the day in office that you are unable to manage time for your lunch and by the time you ultimately sit down to have it, it’s almost tea time. This is one of the major factors contributing to you becoming overweight. This habit of yours gives your body a signal that you are starving yourself and therefore starts storing food in the form of fat.

Health Tip:

Try to chalk out a schedule to accommodate a half an hour lunch break in between, possibly between 12 noon and 1 p.m. and take a strong decision that come what may you will not deviate from your lunch break schedule. You may also schedule your lunch break according to your office canteen lunch break timinings.

  • Cause:

You have your lunch in a jiffy – Do not try to push in your lunch in just a couple of minutes because you are schedule for an important meeting or an important engagement. Remember you are slogging hard through out the day, do not deprive yourself of a peaceful and proper lunch. Give yourself sufficient time to have lunch and eat your food by properly chewing it which also helps in proper digestion.

Health Tip:

Plan and schedule your day in such a way that you spare at least half an hour to have your lunch. You may begin your day half an hour early to accommodate your lunch break.

  • Cause:

Avoid heavy meal – Try to have a balanced and nutritious meal and avoid heavy meal. It’s o.k.  to have lunch with your colleagues at the nearby restaurant once or twice in a month, but don’t make it a regular habit because restaurants are not bothered about your health and weight they are more concern about serving you a tastier platter which obviously would have lot of oil and fat.

Health Tip:

It’s always better to carry a tiffin of home cooked food, or if you are staying away from your family going in for a good and hygienic tiffin service would be a good option.

  • Cause:

Minimize your intake of coffee – Working continuously and tirelessly make you feel drowsy especially towards the evening after the lunch there you tend to grab that luring cup of coffee. Coffee contains caffeine and sugar which are both fast contributor to you weight, and this habit may make you overweight in no time.

Health Tip:

First, as mentioned above take light, healthy and nutritious lunch, avoid heavy lunch. Have lots of water at small intervals which will keep your body hydrated and you won’t feel lethargic, lastly avoid taking coffee as much as you can.

  • Cause:

Be physically active – If your job is such which requires you to sit and work continuously  and you have very less physical movement, you are in for weight gain and after a while you may end up becoming overweight and obese.

Health Tip:

It is advisable to keep yourself active, you can try some desk exercises or arm stretching exercises sitting at your work station. You can make a sort of office health and fitness regime for yourself to keep yourself exercised and active. If your office has a gym, go and hit the treadmill for a while. These activities will ensure that you don’t gain weight and become overweight.

    There are a slew of studies saying that obese and overweight people are more vulnerable to disease. Good thing it is a condition that can be reversed, through proper diet and exercise, how ever daunting it may be.

      There is definitely a solution for weight loss, it may be that you have had a bad experience of getting in contact with the wrong person. Check out for the right professional and take his/her advice personally and follow it and report the progress to him/her on regular basis. I am sure you will be able to overcome the problem this way.
