These days it seems that everyone is trying to lose weight. It’s one of the most common resolutions at New Years, but it can fall to the wayside after a few weeks if you don’t see immediate results. I recently had the opportunity to receive one-on-one consulting with a certified nutritionist. She has taught me a lot about keeping track of what I eat, and also how to lose weight without feeling deprived.
Here Are Some Of The Best Tips To Lose Weight Healthily:
Get Enough Fiber:
One of the main things my nutritionist told me was to pay attention to is getting enough fiber in your diet. Women are supposed to get 25 grams of fiber a day. Men are supposed to get 35 grams. Most processed foods have less than 5 grams per serving. So it takes a concerted effort to find foods with fiber. Luckily fruits and veggies are usually abundant in them. It’s important to look at food labels and choose the food that has the most fiber.
Watch Sugar And Fat Intake:
It’s also important to not eat too much sugar, which can lead to obesity and diabetes. Fat intake should also be monitored, for your heart health. Try not to eat foods with more than 20 grams of sugar per serving.
Move Every Day:
Exercise is important to incorporate in your daily routine. You don’t have to join a gym to get the benefits of exercise. Even just going for a walk everyday can be beneficial to your heart, lungs and even your colon. Yoga and stretching is also important to help center yourself and stay calm.
Keep Track Of Food Intake:
By keeping track of what I eat and how many calories that I have consumed has been one of the best things to keep me motivated. By cutting 500 calories a day, it is possible to lose one pound a week. You can either cut the calories with food intake, or by working out, or a combination of the two. On days that I know I won’t be able to work out more, then I make sure not to go over my limit. My personal limit, for losing one or two pounds a week is to keep my caloric intake to about 1550-1650 calories a day.
Don’t Do It Alone:
It always helps to have a buddy to keep you on track with your diet and fitness goals. It helps to keep you motivated when your friends “like” when you workout.
There Isn’t An Instant Fix To Weight Loss:
It’s a lifestyle adjustment. You need help and guidance. Invest in hiring a personal trainer, or a nutritionist. They have customized plans that can work for you. You can also learn more for yourself by taking nutrition classes.
Don’t deprive yourself of the foods you want, just plan out what you are going to eat ahead of time. This way you can enjoy the chocolate cake in the office on someone’s birthday. Just make sure to use moderation in sweets and fats, and you won’t feel deprived.
