Baby Skin Care Tips

Babies are very delicate and sensitive. Their skin is delicate like a flower that can wither if not taken proper care of. Either it’s your first baby or the second baby skin is always demanding. It demands full nourishment and complete care from season to season. In summer baby skin can get irritated due to sunrays that are harsh enough for his sensitive skin and in winter it can get so dry that a baby is restless due to itching. So you need to be very careful for your baby’s skin.

A very important decision is to choose a baby skin product wisely that should not harm the baby’s skin and is skin friendly. It includes baby shampoo, baby oil, body lotion, wet tissues that are more often used for babies to wipe and clean their face, baby towels, clothing stuff and their diaper is also mentionable. All these items if not suitable will create problem for your kid.

Let‘s discuss tips that can help you keep your baby’s skin fresh.

Skin Products For Baby Skin Care:

Baby skin care products have thousands of qualities and verities in the market. You have to choose the products that are suitable to your baby skin. There are major four types of skin – oily, dry, very dry and normal. For babies these categories are of not much consideration you just have to ensure about the quality. If any product irritates skin of your kid immediately stop using that product as it might result in skin allergies and consult a dermatologist.

Use Soft Material:

For clothing use soft and pure material as the baby’s skin is very soft and cannot bear impure and hard stuff. Pure wool and pure cotton are best. Tightly fitted dresses are not suitable as they give a restless feeling to the baby. Choose a loose dress so that it does not cause redness and itching to skin. Towels should also have a fine soft material so that the skin does not get rashes and irritation.

Body Massage:

To keep your baby’s skin soft and supple, massage it with baby oil especially before bath. It smoothens and glows the skin and is also healthy for the baby. Giving massage twice a week is healthy for the skin and it enhances growth of your newborn.

Keep Pets Away:

Another very important issue is pets. Sometimes babies get allergic and get itching and rashes on the skin due to pets. Babies have sensitive skin tissues, yet they want to touch pets so it’s better to keep the pets away from too small babies. This will prevent allergy and irritation on the baby’s skin.

Hygienic Conditions:

It is very important to clean the surroundings of your baby especially baby’s room. It is in the interest of baby’s health as well as his skin. Changing diaper at regular intervals is also very important. Hanging on with one diaper for long can cause itching and rashes to baby’s skin. Prolonged rashes can cause skin disease. So it’s necessary to change the diaper after short intervals.

Caring for baby’s skin does not take much time it is always better than to contract a disastrous skin disease that is caused due to your careless behavior towards your baby’s health.

Being a mother is probably the most noble profession that I can ever think of. No day offs, no time out and more even no surrender. Your always on the go and there’s no turning back. You really must have a definite choice and precisely it’s the most appropriate thing to do.

Thanks for the tips. Mothers out there are sure gonna find this tips useful. A baby skin is indeed very delicate, when I see rashes on their skin, I feel like I am the one hurting. Thank God I am not a Mother yet.

My son got scabies (probably from a domestic help) when he was only three months old. The poor baby had to suffer for nearly 4 months since no doctor could diagnose it correctly.
He was given strong topical steroids and ointments but the boils/ rashes (so we thought) on his skin only got worse.
We visited the best pediatrics and dermatologists, but to no avail.
By the time a lesser known doctor actually diagnosed the condition, the poor baby had developed burrows along his legs. (The very thought of what he might have undergone makes me shudder now).
So, I would say the few most imp things are:
    1. Hygiene
    2. Visit a good doctor without delay if you see any infections or eruptions.
    3. Do not use harsh chemicals. The use of baby powders, baby colognes, shower foams, etc should be minimized.
    4. Avoid synthetic clothes.
    5. Disinfect the nappies and clothes religiously.
