Sick And Tired? Candida Infection Is On The Rise!
Nowadays Candida infection – also known as yeast infection or simply Candida – is an ever increasing problem that may affect up to 25% of the population according to recent estimates.
Manifesting itself with a vast array of seemingly unrelated signs like chronic fatigue or digestive problems, Candida infection can ruin one’s life for years. The symptoms of Candida yeast infection include:
- abdominal pain and bloating
- low energy
- mouth ulcers
- digestion problems
- skin rashes
- genital itching and rash
- burning urination
In the gut we have many different kinds of naturally occuring living microorganisms. Some are beneficial and some are potentially dangerous should they grow out of control. Unfortunatelly, this is the case of Candida albicans, a single celled yeast like organism that is responsible for triggering Candida infection. Under certain circumstances like taking broad spectrum antibiotics, being under constant stress, using birth control pills, or eating unhealthy foods that are high in sugar, Candida albicans may overpopulate and penetrate intestinal linings, which ultimately results in the aforementioned symptoms.
To put it simply, Candida infection is caused by an imbalance between the “good” and the “bad” bacteria in the digestive tract as the Candida yeast overwhelms probiotics – the friendly bacteria that are present in your colon.
Treatment Of Candida Yeast Infection:
In order to get Candida overgrowth under control, one needs to restore the balance within his or her body. In general, we now have two different approaches for dealing with this condition. While conventional doctors prefer using prescription drugs like Nystatin or Diflucan, proponents of holistic medicine suggest a different approach.
The holistic solution usually includes taking various probiotic supplements with strains like Lactobacillus acidophilus to replenish beneficial bacteria in the colon, using natural antifungals such as garlic or caprylic acid to inhibit the Candida yeast, and following a relatively strict dietary plan which – for a certain amount of time – removes things like sugar or glutenous foods from the diet.
All in all, dealing with Candida infection can be challenging, so your best bet is to prevent it. This can be accomplished by eating healthy foods, taking broad spectrum antibiotics only when it’s necessary, and avoiding stress as much as possible. Keeping your microflora balanced is the first step towards outstanding health.
Is Candida Infection Sabotaging Your Health?
Candida infection is a controversial condition. While some conventional physicians still deny its existence, many holistic doctors claim that it has reached epidemic proportions. In spite of this situation, public awareness of Candida overgrowth has continued to grow, helped no doubt by the long list of celebrities who assert that they have had it.
