How To Live A Long Live

All right, no one lives forever. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but those are the facts of life. There are lots of things you can do to make sure you maximize your time on this planet though – and here are few tips on ‘how to live a long life‘.

Maintain The Temple:

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul but the body is the vehicle the soul uses to get around in. And just like the family car, it won’t run long without some maintenance along the way. If you truly want to live a long life, there are two things you’ll need to concern yourself with as far as the body goes.

The first is nutrition. Sure, fad diets abound but dieting is not going to keep your body fit. The only diet you’re going to need is your diet, tailored to your needs. I don’t need to get on my soapbox and preach about the dangers of the junk food jungle. We all know the score by now. So, if you want to live longer, then it’s time to ensure you are eating the food your body needs. There can still be room for treats, we’re not taking the monastic approach, but living longer means more good than bad needs to pass your gums.

The second step is one that often gets put on the back burner when life runs one ragged. That’s exercise. Food is energy. Energy needs to be expended or it gets stored as fat. Our bodies are complex machines with muscles, nerves, bones and joints that will wear out over time. Living a sedentary lifestyle will wear out the machinery no matter how healthy a diet one sticks to. The human body adheres religiously to the ol’ maxim: use it or lose it. Regular exercise tells your body you still need it to be tip-top and it will do it’s best to meet the demands you put on it by staying strong and able. Living longer means combining a healthy diet with exercise. This is not optional. It’s got to be the dynamic duo.

Chill Out:

Easy to say, yet hard to do. However this is essential if you want to spend more time above ground than below it. Stress kills. It’s as simple as that.

Now, we’re not talking about running off into the forest and living on a rock here. Rather this is all about keeping things in perspective. Getting cut off in traffic is a pain, but it’s not the end of the world so don’t pound the steering wheel and rail at the heavens. Also, get your life organized and you’ll spare yourself the daily stress of running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Okay, the daily grind will have its stresses, we can all accept that. But you can remove avoidable stress. If you’ve got debts, pay them. If you’ve got dreams, big or small, live them. You’re the captain of the ship. You get the final say on whether the journey will be smooth or rough. Make the call.

Living longer is about balance and that’s easier to achieve than you might think. Go for it and let the undertaker wait for your business.
